HB 3 Funding Improvements and Reforms are Increasing Opportunities for Texas Students & Teachers
AUSTIN, TX — January 29, 2020 – The 91Èȱ¬ announced today the release of the 2019 Annual Report.Ìý
The annual report promotes the progress and advancements taking place in public schools and districts across Texas. It also serves as a helpful resource for illustrating areas where we as a state must continue to invest resources to ensure every student is prepared for success in college, a career, or the military.
The 2019 Annual Report focuses on areas of achievement based on the Agency’s Strategic Priorities:
• Recruit, Support, and Retain Teachers and Principals;
• Build a Foundation of Reading and Math;
• Connect High School to Career and College; and
• Improve Low Performing Schools.
A key highlight of 91Èȱ¬â€™s newest annual report pertains to the significant impact brought forth by the passage of House Bill 3 during the 86th Legislative Session. Thanks to this historic legislative achievement, Texas has seen an immediate increase in public school funding of $3.4 billion per year.
The funding and reforms provided via HB 3 will have a tremendous impact on the agency’s strategic plan to improve outcomes for the state’s nearly 5.5 million public school students.
