Briseida Tijerina - Cardoza is a Literacy Academies Specialist in the Early Childhood Division. She is a certified EC-6 Educator who is currently working towards her Doctoral degree in Culture, Literacy, and Language at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She holds a Masters in School Administration from Trinity University and a Bachelor鈥檚 in Bilingual and Bicultural Education from the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley. She attended The BUENO Center for Multicultural Education in Puebla, Mexico, and received training in Social Emotional Intelligence practices at Yale University. She has devoted her life to promoting research-based literacy practices, engaging in equitable and inclusive pedagogies for over 10 years in the public school system. She started her professional journey in San Antonio, Texas where she dedicated her time establishing Dual Language Programs and curriculum alignment across grade levels in both languages. She has worked with grade levels K-5 as a Dual Language/ Bilingual Educator and a Literacy and Math Interventionist, focusing her career on the analysis of literacy development across subjects, grade levels, and languages. Briseida uses her knowledge, experience, and research-based literacy practices to support teachers and students across Texas.
