2021-2022 Texas Reading Initiative-Birth to Kinder

TheÌýultimate goalÌýof this grant is to improve kindergarten readiness by providing high-quality texts, streamlined resources, and comprehensive support to families of the youngest learners in Texas. Increasing access to high-quality books, supplemental learning resources, and evidence-based family education programs will promote home reading and expose children to high-quality, interactive learning experiences. Aligning the high-quality books and learning materials to the evidence-based family education programs will guide and empower families to better support their children's development of essential language and literacy skills. grantee applications will be required to include a needs assessment that illustrates how they will target families that feed into districts with low literacy and/or kindergarten readiness scores. This needs assessment should include how the subgrantees will use CSLD funds to streamline and align services, while targeting disadvantaged families and children in need of literacy interventions or other support services.Ìý
